High Availability Deploying your application in such a way that is always available to customer with least possible down time would be determined as high availability. Fault Tolerant The Ability of system to survive in failure with its components and maintaining system uptime. Such as one of the application instance failed but backup instance is quickly serving the purpose, would be considered as fault tolerant applications.
